Kapana district was chosen for the prestigious selection "Cultural Heritage in Action"

The first district of the creative industries in Bulgaria - Kapana is already part of the European list of cities that have developed innovative ideas for preserving their cultural heritage. The district was chosen after a procedure that began in February presenting the local policies and long-term plans for the development of the cultural heritage.

Kapana - a district of creative industries is one of the leading projects, launched with the initiative European Capital of Culture, and today continues with various entrepreneurial activities and social partnerships.

The selection "Cultural Heritage in Action" is implemented with the support of the "Creative Europe" program with the leading participation of organizations such as EUROCITIES, ERRIN, Europa Nostra and the Council of European Architects. They come together to select cities and regions in Europe that have developed innovative policies, projects and events and are currently being successfully implemented by local authorities. The Kapana district, along with 31 other places in Europe, has been included in a catalog that will be recommended as a successful model of other cities with cultural heritage, which are about to look for ways to revive their spaces. The catalog includes good practices from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy and others with a focus on monuments, digital platforms, festivals, museums, fortresses, etc.

The initiative is supported by Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, who says: "Cultural heritage is a bridge that connects our past, present and future. It belongs to all of us and is part of it. "Investing in cultural heritage is strategic for cities and regions; it promotes social cohesion and civic participation."
