Plovdiv receives award for "Leading destination for cultural and event tourism"
The Municipality of Plovdiv received an award for "Leading destination for cultural and event tourism" for 2020
On the occasion of September 27 - World Tourism Day, media company "K and P Advertising" Sofia, publisher of the magazine "Destination Bulgaria" presented on 24.09.2020 its annual awards to municipalities, managers, investors, sites and services with good practices that have contributed to the development and the recognition of Bulgaria as a year-round tourist destination. The award ceremony took place at the Central Military Club in Sofia, Ceremonial Hall.
Official guests of the event were Mr. Stanislav Ivanov - Member of the 44th National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Lyuben Kanchev - Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria, Dr. Polina Karastoyanova - Executive Director of the National Board of Tourism, Mr. Dimitar Margaritov - Chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission, Mrs. Nikolinka Ilieva - Deputy Executive Director of the Executive Agency "Military Clubs and Military Recreation". A special guest was Yordanka Hristova, who received an award in the category "Ambassador of Tourism".
The Municipality of Plovdiv was awarded in the category "Leading destination for cultural and event tourism" for 2020. The award, on behalf of the Municipality of Plovdiv, was given to the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Archeology and Tourism Plamen Panov. It was presented by Mr. Lyuben Kanchev - Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Plamen Panov cordially thanked on behalf of the Mayor of Plovdiv Zdravko Dimitrov for the recognition. "In recent years, Plovdiv has successfully developed as a leading destination for cultural, historical and event tourism. This is also a priority in the management program of the team of the Municipality of Plovdiv. The title "European Capital of Culture 2019" obliges us even more to set higher goals and achieve better results. The cultural calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv, as well as the efforts of all cultural operators working in our city are aimed at creating a year-round flow of Bulgarian and foreign visitors. Of course, COVID-19 has made an impact, but despite it, the city is full of wonderful festivals and events. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this!”, commented the Deputy Mayor Plamen Panov.
