For the 25th consecutive year, the Municipality of Plovdiv is the organizer and the host city of the International Folklore Festival. The festival is a part of the Cultural Events Calendar of the municipality, and every year there are folk groups from all over the world, presenting with a lot of beauty, talent and good mood an unforgettable fairy of color and rhythms in one of the most emblematic places - the Ancient Theater of Plovdiv.

In the edition in 2019, from 29 July to 2 August, in Plovdiv will meet representative folk groups from Spain, India, Moldova, Mali, Serbia. In the year when Plovdiv is the European Capital of Culture, the accent is very deliberately placed on the Bulgarian performance, so there will be a strong, attractive Bulgarian participation - the ensemble of folk songs and dances "Ivan Valev" Pleven, Pazardzhik, Dilyanka Ensemble Plovdiv, Ensemble Chepino Velingrad and Trakia Ensemble, which will have a solo concert entitled "Meeting of the Generations" on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the ensemble's creation - one of the cultural emblems of the city Plovdiv.
