The Movie “How Plovdiv became European Capital of Culture” was Presented to Italian Cultural Experts
The leading Italian experts in cultural tourism watched the movie “How Plovdiv became European Capital of Culture2019” by Mediacafe on a special projection in Matera.
The Italian city, which is going to be European Capital of Culture in 2019 together with Plovdiv hosted a special edition of the festival Facade Video Fest which started at the end of September 2015. This is the first common event which joined the two capitals. Along with the projections of short movies, there was presented the documentary of Mediacafe devoted to the course Plovdiv took towards its proclamation “European Capital of Culture”.
The movies were projected in one of the unique for Matera cave-buildings. Among the visitors were some of the leading cultural experts in Italy, such as Enrico Lunghi – director of the museum for modern arts MUDAM Luxembourg ; Nikoletta Gugliemucci, whose occupation is organizing various artistic events in abandoned places around Rome; Elisa Laraia from LAP - Laboratorio permanente di Arta Pubblica, who is works in the region called the Basilica.
“The experts were impressed by the fact that Plovdiv’s candidature got started on the initiative of a few citizens, not due to political support. The Italians also commented on the political memorandum for non-interference with the cultural activities signed by all the parties.“ – shared Emil Mirazdhiev from ArtToday – the organizer of Facade Video Fest, who presented the movies in Matera.
After the projections, a discussion has been carried out about the activities of the associations in Plovdiv and Matera, responsible for their promotion as European Capitals of Culture. The presentations of Facade in Matera are a part of the project Maverick Campus.
