The goal of the visit was discussing the opportunities for cooperation between Bulgaria and China in context of the Memorandum of Understanding between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe which focus is common activities and promoting the countries as attractive touristic destinations on the Chinese market. The visit of the high-level delegates was initiated and lead by Mr Li Dzindzao - president of the National touristic administration in China and also being considered as a Minister of tourism.

Mr Stefan Stoyanov - deputy mayor of culture, education, tourism and innovation in Plovdiv Municipality presented to the guests the pedestrian district, the Roman Stadium,the Ancient theater and the Old town. During the meeting the delegates expressed their admiration of Plovdiv and their assurance that Plovdiv will be soon a leading destination for many Chinese tourists. Another result of the visit was the readiness for cooperation between the two countries and for future business contacts. 

Municipality of Plovdiv will continue promoting the city as an attractive touristic destination in 2015 by participating in international touristic fairs and expos. The priority of the administration is to maintain and increase tourists's length of stay in the city and the municipality and to strengthen the marketing of Plovdiv as a destination. The forecast is that the increase of tourists stays sustainable. During the last year Plovdiv was amongst the 10 must-see cities in the world according to the well-acknowledged guide Lonely Planet. In June this year the city will be hosting INDEX 2015 - the biggest professional event for tourism which will be held for the first time in Eastern Europe.
