Plovdiv Municipality with participation at the World Travel Market in London
The Municipality of Plovdiv, together with 23 representatives of the tourism sector from Bulgaria, took part through the Bulgarian national stand of the Ministry of Tourism at the international travel exhibition World Travel Market (WTM) in London, Great Britain, in the period 06-08 November 2023.
The Ministry of Tourism organizes the presentation of Bulgaria with a national stand of 304 square meters. The stand is a record for Bulgarian participation in the British capital, and the event is one of the largest for the sector in the world. WTM London is attended by over 5,000 business representatives and the exhibition is attended by over 51,000 professionals from around the world.
Promoting Plovdiv and Bulgaria as a year-round destination is a priority in advertising campaigns on the British market. Our country is distinguished by a variety of cultural and natural attractions, which have attracted the interest of tourists from Great Britain and because of the fact that they can be visited all year round, and not only in the summer and winter seasons.
A record number of representatives of the tourism business presented themselves at the Bulgarian national stand - 23 tour operators, travel agents, hotels and municipalities.
The Minister of Tourism Zaritsa Dinkova also participated in the largest world exhibition for professionals in the tourism industry, who also held numerous meetings.
The cultural and historical heritage of Plovdiv and our country, among which are the Church of Boyan, Heraclea Sintika, Tsarevgrad of Asenevtsi, the Samovod Bazaar of Tarnovo, the Wine of Bulgaria, the Magic of the Magurata Cave, the Ancient Villa Armira, etc., was presented through VR equipment and rich VR content in Bulgarian and English.
The Municipality of Plovdiv, through the Tourism department, presented the great variety of cultural and historical sights, the rich cultural and event calendar of the city and the opportunities for the various types of tourism that Plovdiv and the region have.
The guests of the Bulgarian stand had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the possibilities for wine and culinary tourism in North-Eastern Bulgaria, the Thracian Lowland and the Rose Valley, South Sakar, the Struma Valley, the Western and Central Danube Plain. Each of the regions was promoted with a wine typical of the terroir, as well as through their maps showing the wine routes and associated tourist attractions.
WTM is the largest trade fair for travel industry professionals and the world's second largest travel trade fair after ITB - Berlin. In 2023, WTM London will be held for the 43rd time. For four decades, the exhibition has changed its vision and location, and since 2002, world business has gathered in the ExCeL center.
