This year Plovdiv Municipality participated in the international tourism fair "ITB Berlin 2014". It was held from March 5th to 9th ITB Berlin is the leading B2B-Platform for the global travel industry, which this year included more than 11 000 exhibitors, 11300 professionals from 188 countries. The presentation of Bulgaria was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism in the national stand.
Representatives of the Municipality of Plovdiv made contact with over ten leading tour operators, travel agencies, and representatives of tourism and regional structures of Germany in order promotion of the city as a tourist destination. Also, meetings were held with Spanish, Georgian, Romanian, Turkish and other tour operators. They were invited to the fourth international meeting of tour operators that Plovdiv Municipality will hold in May.
“On the stand of Plovdiv, witch offered advertising materials for rich cultural heritage and cultural calendar of the city , and various souvenirs related to immaterial heritage was expressed great interest from a large number of visitors and organizers of the forum" - said Peter Lazarov , director of OP "Tourism" . He added something very curious and positive "I also met with a representative of RAYANAIR, about the airline's international meeting of tour operators, namely providing free airfare for English journalists.”
