The Varna Opera presents in Plovdiv "The Lion King" in the "lion" month of August
 
Naturally, in the "lion" month of August, for the first time on the professional stage in Bulgaria, the musical "Lion King" came to life. The large-scale production of the Varna State Opera will perform in Plovdiv on August 13, 2021 at 9:00 pm on the stage of the Ancient Theater. The premiere will take place at the Opera Festival at the Summer Theater in Varna on August 11th.

The Varna Opera presents an exciting concert in costumes to the music of Elton John and Hans Zimmer. The lyrics are by Tim Rice. The author of the orchestration is Danko Yordanov, and the production team includes the director Petko Bonev, the conductor Stratsimir Pavlov, stage design and costumes Asya Stoimenova, stage movement and sculpture Anna Pampulova, 3D mapping Lora Runevska. Soloists, orchestra, choir and ballet of Varna State Opera take part.

The Lion King is Disney's first animated film, based not on an existing work but on an original story (1994), inspired by the biblical stories of Joseph and Moses and Shakespeare's Hamlet. Songs by Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, with original music by Hans Zimmer: "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", "Circle of Life", "Hakuna Matata", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and others conquer the hearts of the audience and won two Oscars and one Golden Globe for the film. This is followed by the musical "The Lion King" (1999), which not only triumphed at world prices, but in a little over 20 years brought six times more billions than the animated film.

The plot tells of Simba (a lion, from Swahili) - the young lion who must succeed his father, Mufasa, as king of the Lion Lands. But the murder of Mufasa by his uncle Scar disrupts the intended course of events and involves Simba in many misfortunes, while after years of struggle the good wins, Simba defends his rightful place and life returns to normal. A beautiful and well-told tale of good and evil that lives in everyone, and which of them will prevail depends on ourselves.
