In the period January 27 – February 1 2016 the Municipality of Plovdiv took part in the 20 –th edition of the International Tourist Market “EMITT” in Istanbul, Turkey. More than 4 500 exhibitors from over 70 countries took part in the market, including Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, India, Turkey, Makedonia, Cyprus, Malaysia, Serbia, Philippines, Palestine, Dubai and many other countries, tourist destinations and tour operators from all around the globe. 
Plovdiv was presented on its own desk at the national stand of Bulgaria. The main as-pect of the presentation of the city was its proclamation European Capital of Culture 2019, the nomination by European Best Destination, as well as the forthcoming 8-th edition of the Interna-tional Meeting for Tourism in April 20-23 2016. 
The city enjoyed huge interest from both the visitors and the participants in the market. The Turkish market offers opportunities for promoting Plovdiv as a leading cultural, wine, reli-gious, gastronomic, shopping, SPA, congress and business destination, as well as a starting point for tours in the region.
