The Municipality of Plovdiv is has been nominated for the prestigious Annual Awards for the Tourist Industry of the Balkans 2015 in the category “Cultural Tourism”. 
The awards are intended to estimate the success of the leading companies in the most important sector for the Bulgarian economics. The organizers of the prestigious ceremony aim to promote the branch and encourage the experts occupied with it. Plovdiv – the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe has more than 200 immovable and 300 000 movable cultural monuments. Nowadays, the city is successfully developing as a leading cultural destination.
One of the means for promoting the city is the Cultural calendar, due to which the attendance of events has increased triple.As well as that, a huge lot of cultural monuments have been fully renovated and open for visitors. Other important factors are the focus of the foreign media , such as Lonely Planet and Daily Telegraph and most of all the proclamation of Plovdiv European Cultural Capital 2019.
