The fifth International Meeting of Tour Operators in Plovdiv held 26th – 30th November 2014 was more than successful with participants from 90 companies occupied within the field of tourism. Delegates from Morocco, UK, Romania, Russia, Georgia, China, Greece, Egypt, and others took part at the event.                   

Official guests of the meeting were the Minister of Tourism – Ms. Nikolina Angelkova, the Mayor of Plovdiv – Mr. Ivan Totev, Deputy Mayor – Mr. Stefan Stoyanov, Ms. Yongqun Yang – Head of Bureau of Culture Sport and Tourism – Shenzhen, China, and Mr. Eric Layden - Senior Vice President of GTI Ltd. At the opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were given by Ms. Angelkova, Mr. Totev as well as Ms. Yongqun Yang while presentation of Plovdiv as a tourist destination was given by Deputy Mayor Mr. Stefan Stoyanov.

The official opening was followed by B2B meetings, where another 50 Bulgarian companies took part and all delegates had the chance to present their companies’ interests, field of activity, experience, and find possible business partner, future opportunities, etc. All participants assessed highly the event organization and appreciated the opportunity for new business contacts as this event is one of a kind taking place in Bulgaria. In addition, all delegates were acquainted with what Plovdiv has to offer as hotels and accommodation.

The fifth International Meeting of Tour Operators coincided with the “New wine tasting” event in the old town of Plovdiv where all delegates were able to taste wines from different wine cellars and regions of Bulgaria. Most of the participant also visited sports complex “Trakiec” where they had the opportunity to explore possibilities for alternative types of tourism as well as to ride a horse and taste Bulgarian cuisine and wine.
