Don't Touch the Suitcase
On June 25, 2024, at 5:30 PM in the hall of Theater "A'part" (3 Saedinenie Square), a theater performance will be presented for the first time on a Plovdiv stage in front of an audience. This performance is entirely realized by children with special educational needs. The premiere of "Don't Touch the Suitcase," based on Boris Aprilov, is being realized through a joint initiative of the Regional Center for Support of the Process of Inclusive Education (RCPPPO) - Plovdiv and Theater "A'part." It is the result of six months of diligent rehearsals held twice a week, during which children and four educators from the Regional Center met with Theater "A'part" director Dr. Sasho Petkov and theater pedagogue Katya Minkova.
The acting rehearsals contributed to the improvement of the children's speech skills and language development, the formation of oratory skills, enhancement of concentration and memory, as well as overall motor skills. Through the techniques of theatrical art, they can express themselves, overcome their fears, see the world through different eyes, develop their imagination, touch the magic of theater, feel the enchantment of words, and, last but not least, find friends!
"The freedom in the theater genuinely gave both the children and the parents the opportunity to feel valued. For the first time in Plovdiv, theater training is being conducted for children with special educational needs. After five months of working with the children, their trust in us is visible and palpable. You can see the joy in their eyes when the work is well done, the games after rehearsal, and their desire to continue attending the theater," said director Dr. Sasho Petkov.
The theater pedagogue is Katya Minkova. Supporting assistants: Dorotea Derneva, Krasimira Vitanova, Rositsa Yaneva, and Gergana Kuncheva.
In the main roles: Daria Paslamova, Valeri Garov, Gabriela Radkova, Kostadin Penov, and Radoslav Garmidilov.
