Theater 199 "Valentin Stoychev" presents in Plovdiv the premiere of its latest theatre play "Honour" by Joanna Murray-Smith. The performance will be played on March 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the House of Culture "Boris Hristov". Kristina Yaneva, Vladimir Karamazov, Elena Hrant, Katalin Stareyshinska participate. Tickets are already on sale at the box office "MaskArt" in the House of Culture and on Grabo.bg. The prices are BGN 25, 22, 20.

"Honour" is a ruthlessly honest play, written with a sharp pen, with humor and grace. It delicately and boldly explores the trials a person goes through to uncover the deepest meaning of the word love. What happens when the shared values and responsibilities in a perfectly harmonious marriage suddenly fade?

Honour and George have been married for 32 years. Both are acclaimed authors, though poetry in Honour's life has given way to her devotion to wife and mother. But when the opportunity arises to renew a life, at the expense of the happiness and security of others in the family, it is as if the whole world turns upside down.

Ivaylo Hristov stages the play at a high tempo. On the stage, built sparingly and spectacularly, the four wonderful actors play "one hundred procent". Events flow into each other and escalate relentlessly. Until it gets to the finale, maybe a little breathless, but very lyrical.

The play is staged for the first time on the Bulgarian stage. The translation is by Zlatna Kostova, direction - Ivaylo Hristov, scenography and costumes - Marina Yaneva, photographer - Simon Varsano.

Born in Melbourne in 1962, Joanna Murray-Smith is among Australia's most popular playwrights. After writing several not-quite-successful texts, Murray-Smith traveled briefly to the United States in 1995. “I remember one day I was walking around New York with no steam. I jokingly wondered if I would ever see my name in lights on Broadway. Soon after, I wrote "Honour." Two years later, it was staged in a theater on this boulevard.” Today, her plays are performed around the world in more than twenty languages. They enter the repertoires of theaters in Perth, Pretoria, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, London, New York. Among her nearly 30 titles for the stage, the more famous are the plays "Bombs", "Female", "Berlin". She wrote four novels, film scripts and several librettos. He is the winner of a number of prestigious awards in Australia and abroad. Married with three children, Murray-Smith is an emeritus professor of literature at the University of Melbourne and one of the most vocal (and often scandalous) public figures in the country.
