An exhibition with interesting archivе footage reveals moments from the common path of Spain and Bulgaria in the EU

His Excellency Mr. Alejandro Polanco, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Bulgaria, will open tomorrow (February 9, 2024), at 11:00 a.m., in the House of Culture "Boris Hristov", floor 2, a photographic exhibition "Spain and Bulgaria. Together in the European Union".

The exhibition presents moments from the common path taken by both countries within the European Union and includes more than 60 photos, capturing events of bilateral relations and cultural exchange from 1989 to 2023.

Among the photos, you can see archival footage from summit meetings, official visits, important moments from the pre-accession process of Bulgaria to the EU, moments of sorrow and joy for both countries, sport success and cultural awards, curious moments from the lives of Bulgarian and Spanish scientists, neighbors of Antarctica. The exhibition cites in a dozen panels the thoughts of 32 representatives of cultural, scientific, social and political life in Bulgaria, professionally and emotionally connected to Spain. In them they share why they love the country, its language and culture.

The organizer of the event is the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Bulgaria. The host and co-organizer in the city of Plovdiv is the "Culture and Cultural Heritage" Department of the Plovdiv Municipality, House of Culture "Boris Hristov".

The exhibition "Spain and Bulgaria. Together in the European Union" was prepared within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and with it the Spanish Embassy closed its cultural program for the Presidency. The exposition is carried out in cooperation with the State Agency "Archives", the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), which provided the majority of the archival footage. Photographs are also provided by the National Assembly, the Presidency, the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria.
