The Municipality of Plovdiv and the Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv are pleased to invite you to the opening of a new temporary exhibition entitled "Library "Boris Dyakovich " - history in documents and images ".

The event will take place on January 30, 2024, Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. in the building of the Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv at Saedinenie Square No. 1.

Probably few people know that at the Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv there is a library for specialized archaeological literature, accessible to everyone. It bears the name of Boris Djakovic (1868 - 1937) - a prominent Plovdiv scientist, to whom today we owe the existence of both the archaeological museum and the public library under the hills.

The exhibition traces the history of the library from the idea of its creation in 1879 to the latest renovations carried out this year, which will be presented to the general public.

As part of the project of the municipality of Plovdiv BGCULTURE-1.001-0016 " The cultural heritage of Plovdiv, presented in revitalized, restored and renovated places ", financed by the FM of the EEA, a number of repair works were carried out in the Archaeological Museum, part of which was the installation of air conditioning and a ventilation system in the book depository of the "Boris Djakovic " library. Over 16,000 archaeological publications from the country and abroad are kept there, for the storage of which optimal conditions have already been created.

We remind you that the Municipality of Plovdiv is implementing a project under the "Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation" Program in the amount of BGN 781,550, financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021. It includes 7 cultural institutions - City Art Gallery, Regional historical museum, Regional Archaeological Museum, Regional Ethnographic Museum, Regional Natural History Museum, "Ivan Vazov" National Library and OI "Ancient Plovdiv". The implementation period is 20 months. Cross-Cultural is a partner of Plovdiv municipality Introduction AS (CC- Intro AS), NGO from Norway.
