On January 6, we celebrate the 176th anniversary of the birth of the poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev

On January 6, 2024, Saturday, at 1:15 p.m. in front of the Hristo Botev monument in Tsar Simeon's Garden in Plovdiv, the 176th anniversary of the birth of the revolutionary poet will be celebrated. In the ritual, organized by the Municipality of Plovdiv, honorary formations from the Plovdiv Garrison - Military Brass Band, representative platoon, wreath bearers and representatives of the Rodolyubie Committee will take part.

Wreaths and flowers will be laid at the memorial. Dr. Ahavni Kevorkyan - chairman of the Society of Writers Plovdiv, will speak about the work and life of the great Bulgarian. The presenter will be the actress from the Plovdiv Drama Theater - Maria Gencheva.

Members of the Parliament, the Mayor of the Municipality of Plovdiv, the Regional Governor of the Region of Plovdiv, representatives from the Regional Administration, the Chairman of the Municipal Council - Plovdiv, municipal councilors, deputy mayors, district mayors and representatives from the municipal administration, the Public Mediator of the Municipality Plovdiv, the Command of the Plovdiv Garrison, political and public organizations, media and citizens will take part in the celebration. 

Prior to that, on January 6 - Epiphany in the Holy Assumption Cathedral (Uspenie Bogorodichno church) in the Old Town at 9:00 a.m., a Holy Liturgy will be celebrated.

At 12:00 o'clock, the consecration of the military flags will take place in the courtyard of the temple. The Great Epiphany Water Ceremony on the banks of the Maritsa River opposite the Water Palace begins at 12:30 p.m. The services will be celebrated by His Eminence † Plovdiv Metropolitan Nikolay.
