Book premiere "Honey from Wasps"
Ergo Publishing House and Bee Bop Café invite you to the premiere of the book of feuilletons "Honey from Wasps" by Vladislav Hristov. The event will take place on Monday, October 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bee Bop Café, 1 Gladstone Street. The book will be presented by Petar Kraevski.
Vladislav Hristov lives in Plovdiv and works as a journalist and photographer. He is the winner of dozens of literary awards, his texts have been published in 18 languages. He is the author of the books: "Photos of Children" (short prose, 2010), "Enso" (poetry, 2012), "Fi" (poetry, 2013), "Germany" (poetry, 2014), "Countdown" (poetry , 2016), "We move forward" (nonfiction, 2017), "Germanii" (poetry, German edition, 2018), "Komorebi" (poetry, 2019), "Letters to Lazarus" (poetry, 2019), "Vazov's Pug " (short prose, 2021).
"Vladislav Hristov loves his characters even when it is difficult to feel only affection for them. He describes them in the most eloquent way, so that we understand both their human nature and their inability to behave in any other way, pressed by circumstances beyond their control. Optimism is sometimes as absurd as the situations they find themselves in. His feuilletons are a solid and vivid picture of today's Bulgarian life." Palmi Ranchev
"It is commendable that in the age of reality shows and virtual humor, Vladislav Hristov bets on satirical prose. The feuilleton is among the normalizing genres in literature, because it puts ideas, values and people in their real places. The texts in this book are exactly that - a kaleidoscope of life's moments in which the funny is not an end in itself, but a means to accept the bitter truths about ourselves with a smile." Peter Kraevski
"I also know Vladislav Hristov as a photographer, a good one at that, which is evident from these texts. They are like skilfully composed photographs, in which the general plan is dense and there is an emphasis that gives meaning to this activity - both the taking of the photograph and its examination. In the stories in Vladislav, we discover that which is not shown, which makes you turn from a reader into a co-author." Vesel Tsankov
"This is one of the most successful books from the flow of our modern book publishing. Up-to-date, with a wide range of humorous techniques - from good-natured mockery to satirical sights. A real antidote to the prevailing conspiracy theories and sincere laughter, reminding us that from tragedy to comedy there is only one step." Rositsa Black-skinned
