On August 2, 2023, Wednesday, at 10.00 a.m. a city-wide celebration will be held on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the outbreak of the Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising and a solemn commemoration of the heroes who died in the Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising  of August 2, 1903.

The place of the ceremony is the monument to the Bulgarians from Eastern and Western Thrace and Belomor Macedonia who died in the national liberation struggles and wars for Bulgaria (located in the South district, next to the old halls).

The commemoration, including a solemn speech and laying of wreaths and flowers, will be attended by a military brass band, a representative unit of the Plovdiv garrison - an honorary company and wreath bearers and the "Patriotism" committee.

The host will be the actor from the Plovdiv Drama Theatre - Simeon Alexiev.

The ceremonial speech will be delivered by Mr. Krassimir Karakachanov - Honorary Chairman of IMRO and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria.
