The Plovdiv Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 23 May 2023, at 19.00 at the Plovdiv Drama Theatre.

The hosts have prepared many surprises in the performance, which is kept secret to make the experience even more exciting. Of course, the guests will be welcomed with a red carpet, there will be a wall being photographed as a souvenir, many unforgettable emotions and pleasant encounters. The event is held in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv, BNT2.

The prestigious Plovdiv Prize is the highest award given to deserving Plovdiv cultural figures. The beginning was set in 1969. Since then, every year on the eve of May 24 - the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literacy, the Mayor of Plovdiv presents the prestigious distinction of the Plovdiv Award to artists, creative collectives, cultural, educational and other institutions for a specific work, event or fact with a real contribution to the development of the cultural life of Plovdiv, realized in the previous year.

The Plovdiv Prizes are awarded one each in the following 12 categories.

Winners receive a statuette, a diploma and a cash prize. Over time, the sections in which the award is presented have varied in number and wording. The monetary equivalent has also been changed. The statuette depicting a throne measuring 30 x 20 x 20 cm, made of bronze, whose author is the great Bulgarian sculptor and Plovdiv resident Dimcho Pavlov (1944-1996), remains unchanged.

According to the Statute of the Plovdiv Award in Article 17, the Special Plovdiv Award for Lifetime Achievement is determined by the Mayor of the city.

The total number of entries this year in all sections was 81. After the first meeting of the specialized committees, the applications were reduced to 3 nominations in each section. They will be announced during the ceremony!
