On 17 June 2023 at 19.00, Quintet Astor Piazzolla - the original ensemble of Astor Piazzolla's official foundation will be on stage at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv.

Plovdiv once again defends its title as the cultural capital of Bulgaria, exclusively welcoming artists of such high rank, whose performance is a must-see treat for any connoisseur of the highest musical standards.

On a warm summer evening, the romance, passion, love and sadness of the tango will envelop the antique splendour of the amphitheatre and turn it into the best backdrop for this fiery musical spectacle!

The Astor Piazzolla Quintet come to Plovdiv after being cheered on their feet by the super prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival, Philharmonie de Paris, Jazzopen, Ravenna Festival, Chicago Symphony Orchestra Hall, Berklee Performance Hall, Umbria Jazz Festival, Jazzfestival Basel and dozens more remarkable music forums!

We will have the unique opportunity to hear live the top stars of Argentine Tango, a formation assembled personally by Laura Escalada Piazzolla, widow of the genius composer and founder of a foundation in his name whose mission is to preserve and promote the maestro's artistic legacy.

We will hear all of Piazzolla's great themes performed in an inimitable way by a group that has the special honor and privilege of being the only one in the world to bear his name!

The concert is held in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the Music of the Ages Forum.
