On April 26 at 8 pm is the start of this year's edition of "Short Films in Fargo" , and will be kept the tradition of screening two Bulgarian films that the organizers have chosen especially for their favorite audience among the titles screened in 2022.

The first film selected from last year's program is Vladislav Lakov's BOOK FOR PEOPLE starring Monika Ivanova, Irene Krivoshieva and Marin Yanev.

In the last week of her summer internship in her late grandmother's village, librarian Slavina is faced with a difficult choice. Either throw away the village's books, obeying the corrupt regulations of her superior Dimitrova, or save the elderly population's only source of information, dooming herself to exile in a village where time has stood still for 40 years.

With his debut short film, writer-director Vladislav Lakov explores the genre of the "heist film", transported into the world of the Bulgarian village. With a background in short films for advertising and branded content, Lacov aims to blend realism and surrealism into an original romanticized narrative.

The second film to be screened is LIGHT NIGHT, LILY (2021) by Petar Valchev, starring Violeta Gindeva (the last role for our great actress).

The film focuses on Dora's profound confession in the last moments of her life. A confession about the disappointment of unlived moments and unfulfilled dreams at the threshold of death.

LIGHT NIGHT, LILY is the winner of the Best Bulgarian Film award at IN THE PALACE festival and is the festival's submission to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an Academy Award.

Short Films at Fargo awaits you with the best Bulgarian films of 2022 on Wednesday, April 26, at 8:00 pm. The venue is clear - at the Fargo Club.  The project is supported by the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the city's Cultural Calendar for 2023.
