When the series "Yes, Mr. Prime Minister" (1980-1984) and its even more successful successor "Yes, Mr. Prime" (1986-1988) appeared on the BBC in the 1980s, they were defined as comedy, though they look like a disturbingly plausible 'Practical Art of Government' type guide. The adventures of the main characters are a vivid satire of the failures and impotence of power games. The TV show ends in 1988 and much of the civil service in Britain sighs relieved, but its creators just watch and wait on the sidelines. In 2009, after a 21-year hiatus, the two worked together again and the comedy Yes Mr. Prime became one of the biggest hits of 2010.
