State Puppet Theatre Programme
April 2023

01.04, 10:30  - Robber Tale
01.04, 11:45  - Robber Tale

The play looks back with nostalgia to the fairy tale days gone by, nostalgia for the real outlaws, the pleasure of being robbed by a real outlaw, with a big moustache and a sharp sword. But when a robbery is protected by law, it becomes an obligatory part of everyday life, it stops troubling the conscience and, unfortunately, everything becomes less fun, fairytale and magical.
"A Robber's Tale" is a wonderful opportunity for open dialogue with children on some of the most pressing issues of our time, told in their own language.

02.04, 10:30 - Sick healthy brings
02.04, 11:45 - Sick healthy brings

A remarkable Bulgarian folk tale in which brute force and cunning mind are contrasted. We rejoice when the weaker outwits the stronger. Thus some kind of justice reigns. However, as soon as one begins to overdo the tricks, they turn into lies and deceptions. Then we begin to sympathize with the other. Precisely because, though strong, it is naive and gullible. But it is not fair to suffer because of deceivers. Isn't this problem also familiar in our modern times...? How wise are folk tales?!

04.04, 10:30  - Who am I? - theater for babies
The show is a walk in the world of animals that children see in books. But our books are different - in them everything comes to life. A little caterpillar learns about the world and its inhabitants, until finally, now grown up and learning many new things, she becomes a beautiful butterfly. An emotional close encounter with the puppets and actors, full of tenderness and warmth. And at the end, the little spectators can look at the puppets, walk (or crawl) among the scenery.

06.04, 19:00  - The Prince of the Sea and the Prince of the Earth
The puppet-theatre performance is created especially for the Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019 programme and is inspired by the traditional Japanese puppet theatre Bunraku. The legend of the first Japanese emperor comes to life on stage. The fairy tale presents the relationship between two brothers - rulers of the sea and the land, tells of the pure love between the prince of the land and the princess of the ocean and the power of honesty, integrity, dedication... A classic Japanese legend about love, trust, the given word and the meaning of life.

18.04, 10:30  - Who Am I? - Theatre for babies

18.04.2023 19:00 - The Flight of the Mole
One winter morning, the Mole realized he hadn't been out of his hole in years. She didn't know if she would survive out there. She didn't remember what the world looked like. She filled another plate with memories and ate them. She got heartburn. Then she fell asleep and dreamed she was flying.
"The Flight of the Mole is an explanation in love of the fears we create for ourselves. We nurture them like little children, feeding them with our souls, our dreams, our longings. Until they grow up and devour us.

19.04, 19:00  - I, Sifiz
"In this performance, we explore the journey of Man's continual return to himself. As early as antiquity, philosophers have been contemplating the absurdity of human behavior. Whatever path he takes, whatever he tries to become, whatever escapes he makes, Man eternally returns to himself. Human life is a repetition of the same action. Spiraling, uniform, predictable. And this endless act makes us reflect not on the meaning but on the meaninglessness of human life."-Veselka Kuncheva

20.04, 19:00  - Hamlet
This is a different and engaging show that presents Shakespeare's serious plot with fun and lightness. Both Shakespeare's original and American Shakespearean scholar Richard Armer's ironic commentary Shakespeare in a Crooked Mirror are used as the basis for the text. The four actors who will use these texts will look at their own complexities in the crooked mirror on stage. These complexes will be driven by a purely human fear - the fear of death.

22.04, 10:30  - KOSSE BOSSE
22.04, 11:45  - KOSSE BOSSE

The beloved actors will tell the classic tale of Cosette, Lisa and Sharo under the direction of Marieta Angelova and set design by Anna Puliyeva and Krasimir Vassilev.
The tree with the nest, the cunning Fox, the little Hair and the friend Sharo - they will all be waiting for you to bring the messages and ideas to life and together we will look at them from today's perspective.

23.04, 10:30  - The Flower of Stone
23.04, 11:45  - The Flower of Stone

"We've all heard the expression 'children are our greatest treasure.' But what does "true treasure" mean to our children? Children will usually tell you that their treasure, is what they have, not what they can do. It's sad, but it's true. From their earliest days, our children dream of and scratch at various "stone flowers" - expensive toys, expensive shoes, expensive clothes, expensive entertainment... In telling the old Ural tale, I have tried to give it not only a new look, but also a new meaning - a new meaning. Instead of dreaming of material things, watching this play, children will begin to dream of their own feats of their own creations, created with their own hands, with their own hard work, courage, perseverance and love."- Mila Masovic-Nikolic, author of the play "The Stone Flower"

25.04, 10:30  - Who am I? - Theatre for babies

27.04, 19:00  - The Little Prince
A show for adults with children. We call the show "For Adults with Children". i.e. we invite the adults to come to the lounge with their children and try to tell them about all the things that happen on stage. When the child asks the adults what friendship is, the love of a rose and what it is to tame a fox - we will have to answer. This is what we would like to provoke - so that the request "Draw me a sheep", is the most genuine and natural thing that can happen to us in life.

29.04, 10:30  - Lazy Bee
29.04, 11:45  - Lazy Bee

There is nothing better than spring! The whole world is changing. And the bees and the midges change with it. Somewhere in the grass, hidden in the flowers, nestled in the leaves, bathed by the dew... these little creatures are solving their big problems.
