The Book - From Stone to Pixel Interactive exhibition

The exhibition "The Book - From Stone to Pixel" offers the audience an encounter with the book and its transformation over the centuries.

On 13 and 14 November (Sunday and Monday), the exhibition will be in the Trakia district in front of Nadejda Bookstore, the following weekend - on 19 and 20 November (Saturday and Sunday) it will visit the Youth Center at the Rowing Base.

In addition to the interesting information in the exhibition, you will see unique models, samples and models, and for children and students there are entertaining "Creative Workshops". The models are made through a synthesis of classical and modern technologies: woodworking, metalworking, 3D modelling and printing. The models represent fully authentic technologies of the past and are working.

The author of the project, which is implemented with the support of the Plovdiv Municipality as part of the Cultural Calendar of the city, is the Plovdiv Pro Libris Foundation. After the success of "Read the City", last year the team presented its second cultural itinerary dedicated to the "Main Street" of Plovdiv. In the current project "The Book - From the Stone to the Pixel", Pro Libris Foundation is creating an interactive exhibition (in the city space and online, via a web application) and will use the expressive means of fine art and design to show interesting facts related to the development of the art of the book in different historical periods: from Antiquity, through the Middle Ages, the Enlightenment, Modernism to the present day.

In specially designated spaces with tables, the public will be able to participate in various demonstrations of interesting book sewing and binding techniques. The artists who will be doing the demonstration workshops are Adelina Vaseva, Kalina Ilieva, Maria Nedelcheva and Alexander Goshev.

The project will be presented in 4 consecutive years. Each year the theme of the exhibition will be different - "Book body and binding", "Calligraphy", "Illustration", "Printing". The theme of the 2022 exhibition is "Book Body and Binding".

The project is also equipped with QR codes that link to a Web application and augmented reality. By combining classical and contemporary technologies, wood and metal models, models, facsimiles, original specimens, information displays, including those with augmented reality, viewers will be able to visually trace different stages in the development of the art of the book.

The event is suitable and interesting for both children and adults.
