Exhibition "Ancient storehouse from Nebet tepe, Plovdiv"
6 December 2022 - 7 May
2023
Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv

We invite you to visit the newly opened temporary exhibition "Ancient storehouse from Nebet Tepe, Plovdiv", where you can get a closer look at a small but representative sample of the structures excavated at Nebet Tepe during the last three archaeological seasons.
The first excavations of the site were made by Dimitar Tsonchev back in 1934, and in recent years - 2016, 2017, 2021 - by Sofia Hristeva, an archaeologist from Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv and the curator of the exhibition. The exhibition focuses on an ancient barn serving the military guarding the fortress wall and tells the story of Philippopolis burned by the Goths in the 3rd century, presenting finds and documented archaeological situations from Nebet Tepe.
Items of everyday life, such as containers for storing food and liquids, cooking and serving utensils, tools of labour, weapons, and medical instruments are presented. And among the more representative finds are an imported amphora from Fr. Crete, bronze appliqués from a horse's tusk and silver coins.
The exhibition is supported by Plovdiv Municipality, which financed the archaeological excavations of the project for the conservation and restoration of Nebet Tepe - "On the fortress walls of Philippopolis".
The exhibition can be seen in the period 6 December 2022 - 7 May 2023.
