CARMEN – opera
CARMEN
August 15, 9:00 p.m.
Ancient Theater, Plovdiv
On August 15 at 9:00 p.m. Georges Bizet's masterpiece - the opera "Carmen". This "Carmen", directed by Maestro Plamen Kartalov, takes your breath away, grabs you and doesn't let you go until the end as you empathize with the fate of the heroine. An impressive performance, which has no relation to the many versions in opera productions, film and ballet interpretations of this musical text.
The Sofia Opera and Ballet will present Plamen Kartalov's production of "Carmen", with which our first opera theater won a standing ovation on its last tour in Japan.
The director Plamen Kartalov offers an independent conceptual look in the style of the traditions of the ancient Greek theater and the Japanese "No" theater.
The dominant focus is on the fate of the main actors, placed in the central circle of the stage as an arena of destiny. And the space around this arena is the place for the characters, for their play and behavior. Around her is both the observer and the commentator the action Chorus.
Carmen is a tragedy of personality. Love and freedom are more important to her than life. Carmen is a reflection of tragic guilt, close in fate to heroines and images from the classic masterpieces of ancient Greek tragedy.
The role of Carmen will be mezzo-soprano Violeta Radomirska. Also participating are the soloists:
Kostadin Andreev (Don Jose, Veselin Mihailov (Escamilio), Tsvetana Bandalovska (Mikaela), Svetozar Rangelov (Zuniga), Atanas Mladenov (Morales), Diana Vasileva (Frasquita), Iliya Iliev (Dankairo), Tsvetelina Kotseva (Mercedes), Krasimir Dinev (Remendado) etc.
Conductor GEORGE DIMITROV
Director: PLAMEN KARTALOV
