The Municipality of Plovdiv presents the Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis at the international exhibition in Veliko Tarnovo

From 14 to 16 April 2022 in the city of Veliko Tarnovo is held the 17th edition of the International Exhibition "Cultural Tourism". The forum is a renown platform for presenting the development of cultural tourism by municipalities, cultural institutes, companies, public associations. The participants in the exhibition and the accompanying rich discussion program present new sites and socialized landmarks, created attractions and services, publications for culture and tourism, festivals and holidays that reveal the original charm of the regions. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to make effective contacts and create long-term partnerships.

The Municipality of Plovdiv is a traditional participant in the International Exhibition "Cultural Tourism". This year, the focus of the presentation, prepared by experts from the Tourism Department of the municipality, is placed on the Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis. In just a few days, on April 18 - International World Heritage Day, the first anniversary of its opening will be celebrated. The Plovdiv stand "Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis" is based on an attractive author's design, with characteristic elements and a distinctive brand, which includes fragments of famous mosaics and a reference to the former appearance of the Basilica with unique medallions with different species of birds.

Another important highlight of the Plovdiv presentation is related to the prestigious fourth place, which the city won in the 13th edition of the prestigious ranking of European Best Destinations and several first places in different categories of the same ranking - Best Cultural Destination in Europe, Best Romantic Destinations in Europe, Best Wine Destinations in Europe, and only a week ago for Best Destination in Bulgaria.

The International Exhibition "Cultural Tourism" is held on the initiative of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo together with the Ministry of Tourism. The event is included in the Annual Program for National Tourist Advertising. The forum includes a specialized tourism exhibition with the participation of municipalities, tourism companies, cultural institutes and diplomatic missions and a rich conference program. There is also a National Competition "Read and Travel" in which prominent specialists in the field of tourism, public communications, book publishing and others identify the most professional tourist websites, the most interesting tourist publications, the most effective journalistic columns and publications, the most original posters for events in the field of cultural tourism, organized by museums, municipalities, tourism organizations and associations, government and non-governmental sector, universities and others.

At the Plovdiv stand, the experts from the Tourism Department have prepared many promotional materials dedicated to Plovdiv, its cultural and historical landmarks, a rich cultural calendar, as well as the latest information and promotional materials for the Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis.

Among the first guests at the Plovdiv stand were the Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Mariela Modeva, the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov, representatives of the diplomatic corps, Korhan Küngerü, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv and others.
