Antonio Sanchez is one of the most remarkable drummers on the contemporary jazz scene. He is also a composer and producer. As a leader he created seven albums. In Plovdiv he chose to present compositions from one of his brightest and most unconventional albums - Bad Hombre. Created in 2017, it is undoubtedly one of the most personal works of Antonio Sanchez. The all-solo album is dominated by modern means of expression and electronics. The compositions are full of socio-political messages, they are a rebellion and a reaction against the actions of the Donald Trump administration.

Antonio Sanchez was born in Mexico, where he began playing professionally in his early teens. He studied classical piano and jazz at the Berklee College of Music. Since moving to New York in 1999, Antonio Sanchez has become one of the most sought-after drummers on the international stage. Over the next 18 years, he recorded 9 albums with Pat Metheny and worked with Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Michael Brecker, Charlie Haden and Toots Thielmans.

In 2014, Sanchez's work became widely popular with the memorable music of the film "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu. The film won four Oscars, and Antonio Sanchez won a Grammy for his soundtrack. Sanchez has also been nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award and has won numerous musical awards.

Antonio Sanchez arrives in Plovdiv together with his wife - singer Thana Alexa, who will also take part in the concert. Her latest album ONA (from Croatian - "She"), released in 2020, was inspired by different generations of women, women's movements, multicultural stories of immigrant women. For it, she received two Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Instrumental Jazz Solo (for Regina Carter's performance).

EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE can be obtained at https://his.bg in the following three cases:
· Vaccination: you have been vaccinated with any of the COVID-19 vaccines;
· SARS-CoV-2 infection in the last 12 months: you have been ill and have an official document certifying that the disease was not more than a year ago;

During the Plovdiv Jazz Fest (October 29, 30 and 31) the laboratory of the Medicus Alpha Clinic (at 21 Veliko Tarnovo Street, next to the Singing Fountains), which is located next to the Hall of Culture “Boris Hristov”, provided the opportunity for the audience of Plovdiv Jazz Fest to receive a 50% discount on the price of antigen tests.
Thus, their price becomes BGN 20.
✦ The laboratory provides an additional team and a green corridor for our guests from 16:00 h. to 17:00 h. each day of the festival.

What is an EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE?
EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE can be obtained at https://his.bg in the following three cases:

- recovery from SARS-CoV-2 infection: less than 180 days have elapsed since the date of the positive result of the PCR test;

Detailed description:
A green digital certificate can be obtained from the system for vaccination (with the number of vaccinations made according to the type of vaccine for COVID-19) and for recovery from COVID-19. It is only available for those who have had a coronavirus infection and are listed as confirmed cases with a positive PCR result in the National COVID-19 Registry. The certificate is valid from the 15th to the 180th day from the date of the first positive result of the PCR test for COVID-19.

Individuals with negative PCR test or a rapid antigen test may also receive an EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE for COVID-19 testing. The certificate is valid until the 72nd hour from the date of test for the PCR test and up to the 48th hour from the date of testing for the rapid antigen test for COVID-19. Upon request, the certificate is provided to the person from the laboratory that performed the test.
