Opening of the exhibition "Bulgarian monuments under UNESCO protection"
On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Bulgaria's accession to UNESCO and 75 years since the founding of the organization, the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the Human Rights Directorate - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Commission of the Republic of Bulgaria for UNESCO, open the exhibition "Bulgarian monuments under the protection of UNESCO", which focuses on the presentation in an appropriate way, through professional art photographs and scientific texts - in three languages: Bulgarian, English, French, the uniqueness and beauty of Bulgarian monuments included in the list of sites world cultural and natural heritage. Most of the photographs were provided by Ivo Hadzhimishev, one of the best Bulgarian photographers.
In the context of the procedure for the candidacy of the Bishop's Basilica and Late-Antique Mosaics of Philippopolis, Roman Province of Thrace of the Tentative list of Bulgaria in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List, the exhibition openning will be on June 29, 2021 - from 18:00 h. the above-mentioned new exposition in the spaces of this remarkable monument of our cultural heritage.
Due to the great interest in the exhibition, it will be open to visitors for an extended period until August 15, 2021 in the the Bishop's Basilica. This is an occasion to express together our support for the project to achieve greater international publicity and get its rightful place in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The exhibition is implemented with the assistance of the Municipality of Plovdiv and the kind hospitality of the Municipal Institute "Ancient Plovdiv".
