International Day of Ethnic Tolerance
The Singer’s Society Angel Boukoreshtliev will celebrate the International Day of Ethnic Tolerance with a concert on November 16 (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Angel Bukoreshtliev building. Those attending the event will have the opportunity to hear songs representing the folklore of different ethnicities.
Singer’s Society Angel Boukoreshtliev was founded in the distant year 1895 in the house of Nikola Popov. 18 enthusiastic music fans gather there and decide to create a choir. Angel Bukoreshtliev, a singing teacher at the Plovdiv Boys' High School, was invited as the conductor. A few months later - on March 4, 1896. – the Constituent Assembly was held, at which the amateur male choir was renamed the Plovdiv Singing Society. Article 1 of its Statute reads: "The Singing Society is established to develop and spread Bulgarian and Slavic singing and artistic music in general".
The appearance of the Singer’s Society Angel Boukoreshtliev on the Day of Tolerance is organized with the courtesy of the "Culture, Archeology and Cultural Heritage" Department of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
