Festival "Days of Thracian Culture" 2021 from June 24 to June 29, 2021 in Plovdiv
TRAKART organizes for the ninth year the Festival "Days of Thracian Culture" from 24 to 29 June 2021.

The Thracian cultural heritage of our ancestors, bearers of original and remarkable culture and traditions oblige us not only to discover and admire the achievements of their decorative and artistic traditions, but also to promote them in an accessible form.

Remaining true to its trend in its activity "Synthesis of Antiquity and Modernity", Cultural Center "Trakart" invites culturologists working in its research activities to present to the general public their new discoveries, which are based on Thracology and Thracian culture.

The official opening of the festival will take place on June 20 / Thursday / from 19.00 h. at the Roman Stadium - Plovdiv with the participation of:

On June 24, 2021 / Thursday / from 19.00 at the Roman Stadium is the official opening of the festival with a concert. The program involves:
- Plovdiv Boys' Choir "Stefka Blagoeva" with conductor Milka Toledova, piano accompaniment Julia Petrova at the Center for Support of Personal Development - Municipal Children's Complex, Plovdiv;
- Formation for authentic folklore "Kuklitsi" with leaders Violeta Shtereva and Rumen Monev at the Center for Support of Personal Development - Municipal Children's Complex, Plovdiv;
- Folklore dance ensemble "Iglika" led by Ventsislava Elena at the Center for Support of Personal Development - Municipal Children's Complex, Plovdiv;
- Premiere for Plovdiv of the dance performance of Anna Kabakova "Nine", realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture.

The festival program of "DAYS OF THRACIAN CULTURE" 2021 covers two areas - MUSIC AND WORD, presented by the Scientific Conference "Thracians - spirit and matter" and various cultural events - concerts, exhibitions, film broadcasts, meetings, readings.

On 26 and 27 June 2021 in the Cultural Center "Trakart" is held a Scientific Conference on "Thracians - Spirit and Matter", which will be attended by prominent Thracians and culturologists - Prof. Valeria Fol, Prof. Ivan Marazov, Prof. Vanya Lozanova, Prof. Dobrin Denev, Assoc. Prof. Veselina Vachkova and others.

Twenty-six papers will be presented at the conference. The topics of scientific research are diverse - new data and summaries of research results and various aspects of the religious beliefs and rites of the Thracians.

Plovdiv, as the geographical center of Thrace, was and is the center of Thracian culture and has the historical mission to preserve, explore and present the tangible and intangible heritage of the Thracians. The oldest living European city, in a natural way of mutual acquaintance, unites and represents the Balkan Diaspora and emphasizes our common cultural roots, traditions and rituals.

Highlights in the festival program are:
- On 25 June 2021 at 18.00 h. opening of the exhibition "SBORYANOVO - NATURE AND MONUMENTS, GODS AND PEOPLE", organized in cooperation with the State Cultural Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- On 26 June 2021 at 18.30 h. the premiere of the book by Prof. Lozanova-Stancheva "Zeuxipos or Byzantium - The City of the Sun", Paradigma Publishing House;
- On 27 June 2021 at 14.00 h. the premiere of "Nightingale's Bible" by Niton Publishing House;
- On 25 and 28 June 2021 the premieres of the films "Death Goddesses" and "The Code". The films are by Tsvetan Simeonov - journalist, screenwriter and director, author of more than 50 documentaries. Some of them have been awarded the Grand Prix at prestigious international forums.
The films will be screened at the Trakart Cultural Center and the South District of the Municipality of Plovdiv;
- On 28 June 2021 from 18.00 h. is "Musical journey with four hands" - a concert with the participation of Nadezhda Kuzmanova-piano and Marinela Ivanova-piano;
- Thracian tales - reading tales, a suitable meeting for children over 5 years on 27 June 2021 in the Research Center-Museum "Trakart" from 11.00 h.
- Literary competition "Heirs of the Thracians" - on the last day of the festival "Days of Thracian Culture" 2021 on 29 June from 18.00 h. the prizes from the literary competition "Heirs of the Thracians" announced three months ago will be awarded. With the special participation of the choir "Evmolpeya".

The International Festival "Days of Thracian Culture" 2021 is part of the Calendar of Cultural Events of the Municipality of Plovdiv 2021 and contributes to a more detailed presentation of Thracian heritage and related cultures, creates and strengthens bridges for future joint scientific and cultural activities.

The project is supported by the Municipality of Plovdiv, with the kind assistance of the South District and in cooperation with the State Cultural Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the media partnership of Radio Plovdiv and Radio Katra FM.
