Luca Sulic from 2CELLOS with concerts in Plovdiv and Varna
The star cellist is a guest with his cello and piano show in the company of the Bulgarian pianist Evgeni Genchev
Superstar Luca Sulic, co-founder and member of the famous 2CELLOS, comes to Bulgaria with his special cello and piano show LIVE SUMMER 2021. His cello will be accompanied by the young Bulgarian pianist - rising world star Evgeni Genchev.
The performance will be a guest on September 6 in Varna, Summer Theater and on September 7 in Plovdiv - Ancient Theater.
The concerts are exclusive, with a limited number of seats. The locations in Bulgaria are specially chosen - in open-air theaters with an unusual spirit and atmosphere, where traditionally the two musicians present their emotional show in other parts of the world.
In SUMMER 2021 they will perform some of the greatest rock and pop hits of all time such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Nothing Else Matters, Linkin Park's Numb, The Sound of Silence, Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, Chandelier. Their program also includes a lot of film music - iconic tracks from the soundtracks of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Shallow. The musicians remain faithful to the classical masterpieces - part of their repertoire - Spiegel im Spiegel, Nuvole Bianche.
The two young and talented musicians, although recently reunited, are already an established tandem and win the hearts of music connoisseurs. In 2020, they presented their crossover program in unique places in Europe, one of which at the No Border Music Festival by Lake Fusine amidst the beauty of the Italian Alps.
For Luca Sulic
He was born in Slovenia. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2011, together with Stepan Hauser, they recorded a video with the version of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal", which immediately became a viral on the web and led to the worldwide success of 2CELLOS.
Prior to that, Schulic had already won prestigious top awards from international competitions such as the Lutoslawski International Cello Competition, the Royal Academy of Music Award at Wigmore Hall and others. As a soloist, Schulic has played with many world orchestras - the Deutsche Radio Philharmonic, the Warsaw Philharmonic and the Russian Symphony Orchestra.
Schulic and Hauser were so successful with 2CELLOS that they toured Elton John's world tour and recorded five successful albums with Sony Masterworks. They sell iconic concert halls such as Radio City Music Hall in New York, Royal Albert Hall, Arena Verona in Italy, Olympia Hall in Paris and the Sydney Opera House.
After eight years of touring the world in 2019, Luca Sulic is returning to his classic roots with his first solo album Sony Classical, which tops the Billboard charts. His dramatic interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons is the first complete recording of baroque concertos arranged for cello. With his album, Luca made a world tour, which began with a sale at the Teatro Del Verme in Milan and again toured the largest halls for classical music in the world. Schulic was a special guest at Bilibili's New Year's Eve gala event in Beijing and recently played the national team anthems in the first leg of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
For Evgeni Genchev
A young Bulgarian pianist, but already recognizable on the world stage and strongly applauded by the critics. He was born in Plovdiv and began his education at the Plovdiv Music School "Dobrin Petkov". He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the International Piano Academy "Incontri col Maestro" Imola, Italy, and graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
He has performed throughout Europe, North America, China and Australia. He has won more than 15 national and international piano awards, such as the Grand Prize at the Peter de Grote Festival in Groningen, the Valery Gavrilin International Youth Competition in Russia and the LISMA International Festival in New York. He has participated in many TV programs on RTL, ARD, Deutsche Welle. He played at Willkommen 2017 at the Brandenburg Gate in front of more than 800,000 spectators, in Dubai together with Luka Sulic and Filip Kirkorov and others.
During this season Genchev played with the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM (OFUNAM) in Mexico City, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic F. Chopin in Gdansk, the LISMA Festival Orchestra in New York and the Plovdiv Philharmonic.
The concerts of Luca Sulic and Evgeni Genchev LIVE SUMMER 2021 on 6.09.2021 in Varna and on 7.09. 2021 in Plovdiv have a limited number of seats. Tickets are sold in the Eventim system and at the respective box offices.
