Art as an intersection of culture and traditions. Art as a mirror reflecting the past, but in a new format. This is the prism through which this year the "ArteVision" Association, with the financial support of Municipality of Plovdiv, presents the thousand-year-old "Shadow Theater" to Plovdiv. The Shadow Theater and the Digital World project connect past with future in real time. Relying on the formula that "If you can draw a character with a pencil on a sheet of paper, then you can create it on any software", actors, participants and audience will make a leap in time together.

On May 7 2024, in the Komatevo quarter, graduates of Zahari Stoyanov Elementary School will participate in an Interactive Demo workshop, where with the help of an animator and computer programs, they will "transfer" the traditional puppets from the Shadow Theater into a digital environment.

On May 8 2024, the researcher of Chinese culture and professor from the Confucius Institute, Lai Ming Jingting, will be a guest at Paisii Hilendarski University, who will make a presentation on the traditional Theater and Shadow Opera from Hainan Province, with the aim of showing China as a scene of the past, which meets the future.

On May 10 2024, an Interactive Demo Workshop will be held at the Regional Center for Support of Inclusive Education in Plovdiv. An educational film will introduce participants to the world of theater puppets. They will make 3D puzzle installations of Shadow Theater characters. The activities will be adapted for children and youth with SEN from Plovdiv schools visiting the Center.

On May 15 2024 people will be able to join a Puppet Parade and the opening of the Exhibition "Shadow Theater - The Past Meets the Future" in Tsar Simeon's Garden /at the "Demeter" Fountain/. Children from Plovdiv schools, kindergartens and schools in puppet and theater costumes will parade from the Center to the exhibition area. Music, dance performances and a cheerleading squad will kick off ArtAction in the open air. A visual artist and audience participants will paint live their modernist version of a Shadow Theater character. Inspired by the exhibition "The Theater of Shadows - The Past Meets the Future", they will create a collective painting on a 2-meter canvas.

On May 20 2024 - Cinema Hall of the Central Cooperative Union - Plovdiv, a performance - "Shadow Theater" with guest actors from Turkey will be held.

On May 21 2024 - Military Club - Plovdiv, a show will be held - "Shadow Theater" with guest actors from Greece.

The productions are translated into Bulgarian.
