On the trail of the known unknown awakeners
On the Day of the People's Awakeners, November 1, 2023 (Wednesday), from 4:00 p.m., Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute opens the doors of the newly restored Pavliti house (known as the Blue House) for an exciting meeting with the historian Vladimir Balchev. The talk is on the topic "On the Trail of the Known Unknown Awakeners".
"Mr. Balchev's research always leads to interesting and inspiring stories. We believe that sharing with the audience the revival spirit of Pavliti House and talking about the revival is really intriguing," shared the organizers.
Vladimir Balchev graduated from Bulgarian philology and history at Cyril and Methodius Technical University. He works as a curator at the "National Museum of Education", editor of a specialized publication for literature, culture and history, editor at "Radio Plovdiv" and chief expert at "State Archive" - Plovdiv, worked for many years at Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute. He published research on Bulgarian manuscript books in the period of the 15th - 19th centuries, Bulgarian literature and culture in the 19th and early 20th centuries. His studies and scientific statistics are in "Literary Thoughts", "Notices of the Bulgarian Historical Published Society", in the scientific works of PU "Paisiy Hilendarski" and other collections and specialized publications. Composer of several albums. In recent years, his attention has been directed to mostly unknown and little-known moments in the history of Plovdiv. He is the author of the books "The Forgotten City - notes on Plovdiv" (together with Petko Petkov) and "Plovdiv - the other side of Europe". He is a favorite author of Plovdiv residents and with his columns dedicated to the past of Plovdiv in several regional media.
The following day, from 5:30 p.m. at the Roman Stadium will be held a festive concert of the Municipal Community Center Union - Plovdiv with the participation of more than 120 performers from the community centers of Plovdiv. Special guests are the girls from the choir formation "Evmolpeia" with conductor Dr. Aliya Hanse and piano accompaniment Yordanka Ivanova. The concert takes place with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv and the Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute.
