"Jean Anouilh's Antigone is back in the European repertoire, back in Bulgaria with the long-awaited premiere of Alexander Morfov, the theatrical event of the Pleven Theatre. After a seven-year absence from the Bulgarian stage, Morfov staged a vividly theatrical, ensemble performance, in which stand out the performances of Deyan Donkov, Milena Ermenkova, Nadia Keranova, Alexander Kanev and Hovhannes Torosyan. The whole troupe works as a single organism to reveal the mechanisms of tragedy valid from Antiquity to the present day.

Milena Ermenkova's Antigone captivates with the power of the spirit, with the moral tuning fork embedded in it. She is what she is and nothing can divert her from the path she has set. One cannot not bury the dead, one cannot not respect the relatives and undo what has been achieved over the centuries. The action takes place amidst a great library (set design by Semyon Pastukh and Tita Dimova-Vantek) and only Antigone is given the right to ascend to its summit, for she and poetic natures like her know the active power of words and are capable of deeds in moments of political and social trial.

The archetypal story is constructed by the director and talented team as a sharply contemporary performance in which old myths are read in a way that generates tragic tension. Mankind is unfit to learn as history unfolds; it wanders in the maze of its delusions, crashes into the walls of its endless cruelty, and ruthlessly destroys the best of them. Deyan Donkov's Creon is an amused tyrant, willing to go to extremes to maintain his power. It doesn't matter to him who's guilty and who's not, he doesn't care about moral dilemmas - what matters is staying on top of the game. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

DUE TO A SERIOUS INJURY TO AN ACTOR IN THE MAIN ROLE, THE PERFORMANCE "ANTIGONE" SCHEDULED FOR 24.02. IN THE DRAMA THEATER - PLOVDIV IS CANCELED FOR SEPTEMBER 27 /the first possible date/.
The time and place remain unchanged!
All purchased tickets for 27.09.2023. and 24.02.2024 are valid without reverification!
If you are unable to attend the performance on the new date, you may return your tickets to the place where they were purchased until August 30, 2024."

Ticket return procedure:
Amounts for tickets purchased through the partner network of Eventim.bg are refunded by the specific site from which they were purchased.
In case the tickets were purchased from the Eventim BG website:
- by credit card - they must be sent to the central office of Eventim BG - Sofia, 58 "6th September" street and within 7 working days the amount will be refunded to the credit card with which they were purchased. !Tickets purchased with print@home and eticket option are returned by email to [email protected]
- by cash on delivery or by bank transfer - customers must return their tickets by post to the address - Sofia, 58 "6th September" street with a bank account to which the amount will be refunded, together with the name of the account holder and contact phone number.

Purchased tickets are valid without revalidation and the start time remains unchanged - 19:00.
You will be seated by the ushers according to the price category of the ticket.
If the new date is not convenient for you, you can return your tickets by 18 OCTOBER
