January - the month of Radichkov

In January 2023 , Plovdiv will host the presentation of the final volume of the collected works of Yordan Radichkov.

The incomparable virtuoso and magician of the word, playwright and screenwriter, the author has bequeathed to his readers a diverse oeuvre of short stories, novellas, novels, travelogues, children's books, plays and film scripts, spread over 12 volumes of work.
January - Radichkov Month, the annual event that pays tribute to Radichkov's personality and creativity, will expand with a host of events with screenings, lectures, presentations, an exhibition and a theatrical performance in the city of Plovdiv.
The programme will begin on 12 January with the presentation of the final 12th volume of the collected works of Yordan Radichkov at 18:30 in the Bishop's Basilica. For more than 12 years prof. Inna Peleva has been working on the volumes, collecting, comparing and contextualizing the author's wide-ranging work. The volumes bring together all the texts - published and unpublished.
The final volume contains journalism, words, essays, prefaces, afterwords, notes and texts from the archive of Yordan Radichkov.
The book is divided into several parts: 'Radichkov on himself, Bulgarians and history', 'On artists, art and culture' and 'From the writer's archive'. Among the texts are also highlighted those written about Ivaylo Petrov, Binka Zhelyazkova Konstantin Pavlov, Rumen Skorchev, as well as on various occasions such as the 100th anniversary of "Under the Yoke", about the film "The Attached Balloon" and many others.
Between 13 and 19 January, four films related to the work of Yordan Radichkov will be screened and the start of the screenings on the Day of Bulgarian Cinema will be the film by director Andrei Paunov "January", which features the star team of Samuel Finzi, Yosif Serchadzhiev, Zakhari Baharov, Leonid Yovchev, Malin Krastev, Borislav Chuchkov. One of Radichkov's most famous plays takes on a new life with Paunov's exceptional interpretation. The director will attend the screening for a meet-and-greet with the audience.
Together with January, Plovdiv residents and guests will have the opportunity to see the digitized version of Binka Zhelyazkova's iconic film The Attached Balloon, which was shown only once in Sofia.
Along with the art films, viewers will also be able to watch two documentaries about Radichkov. "Cherkazki Chronicles" directed by Dimitar Petkov is the only documentary about and featuring Yordan Radichkov in which he talks about his work.
"The White Stage and Radichkov" by director Dimitar Sharkov focuses on Radichkov's plays and productions and the author's work in the world of theatre.

The program will be enriched with never-before-seen originals of Yordan Radichkov's illustrations at PUNKT on January 14. Visitors will be able to rediscover Yordan Radichkov as an artist. Known for his illustrations of the best-loved children's book We Sparrows, the author painted throughout his life, bequeathing a vast archive of never-before-seen originals. A specially selected selection of these will give visitors a new insight into the author's personality and work.
On 20 and 22 January at the Bishop's Basilica, those tempted by the work of Yordan Radichkov will have the opportunity to meet Prof. Inna Peleva, who will give two lectures in two days. The lectures will attempt to encompass the author's multifaceted oeuvre and provide a deeper understanding of the author's time, place, reasons and inspiration that helped to create 12 volumes of literary works.
The final performance of the program will be Katya Petrova's "The Bomb" at the Plovdiv Puppet Theater. The performance is a winner of the Grand Prix award from the
