On 21 October at the Boris Hristov House of Culture at 18.00 starts the Chinese Documentary Film Festival. Entrance is free!

The festival will be officially opened by Mr. Hong Hai - Director of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia. Before that, at 15.00 Mr. Hong Hai, accompanied by Irina Beleva, Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Shanghai 2011-2015, Senior Advisor at the Bulgarian-Chinese Association for Business Development BCABR, Krustyo Belev, Representative in Beijing of BCABR and Gina Balareva, Events Assistant CCC, Sofia will meet with Plamen Panov - Deputy Mayor for Culture, Archaeology and Tourism of Plovdiv Municipality.

Mr. Hong Hai has held this position since March 2022. Prior to taking up this post, he was Deputy Director of the Tourism Department of Ningbo Municipality.  He has three years of experience in Guizhou City under a program to alleviate poor areas by boosting tourism.

After some hiatus due to the pandemic situation from COVID-19 of the interesting public initiatives in the halls of the only CEE Cultural Center of China in Sofia, from mid-April 2022. The Centre is gradually restoring its activities.

As a first step, it is organising hybrid courses in Chinese art and culture.  The main part of the events are held in the form of online courses on Chinese art and culture for the Bulgarian audience and will start in the second half of April this year and last for eight months .

The first phase of the Chinese culture and art training will cover three main sections: Chinese dance, Chinese cuisine and Chinese calligraphy in small groups on site at the Chinese Cultural Centre. The Ningbo Professional School of International Relations is used specifically for the live broadcast of Chinese dancing, the Wangli Academy Hall, Zhejiang Province is the venue from where the Chinese cuisine courses are broadcast "live", and the Ningbo Cultural and Performing Arts Development Organization is the host for the broadcast of the Chinese calligraphy courses. All of this is presented by the most renowned Chinese specialists in the various fields of cultural life.

Through the numerous initiatives in just 7 months in Bulgaria, Mr. Hong Hai has a great merit to touch the heart of Chinese culture and in particular the specifics of Ningbo culture.
