The Symphony Orchestra of the city of Shenzhen is coming for the first time in Bulgaria. One of the best Chinese philharmonic orchestras will give a concert on August 23, 2014 at 8 pm in the Antique Theater in Plovdiv.
Founded in 1985, the orchestra has over 100 concerts each year in China and around the world. Under the direction of conductor Chen Chuanson and concertmaster Guillaume Molko, they have so many memorable performances. Their most popular performances are the overture "Flag" and the symphony "History of the spring".
World-famous guest conductors such as Li Delun, Tan Muhai, Chen Zuohuan and Heiko Mathias Förster, former artistic director of the Munich Philharmonic society, have contributed to the incredible mastership, which has the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra today. This is also the first Chinese formation that has performed at the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic and the famous “Smetana” hall in Prague. The band has worked together with the composer Tan Dun, the Spanish tenor Jose Carreras and the author of film music Erich Kunzel.
The concert of the Symphony Orchestra is part of a series of events for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China and will mark the first fraternization between Plovdiv and the youngest metropolis in China – the Shenzhen city.

The concert is in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv and supports the candidature of the city for the title European Capital of Culture 2019.
