The three-day festival for another year will offer a variety of entertainment for visitors.

Groups with knights and gladiators from France, Romania and Hungary take part in the festival "Plovdiv - ancient and eternal: history, ethnology, culture and art" from 27 to 29 May. It starts tonight at 6.30 pm, when an impressive procession with the participants will start from the Central Square to the Roman Stadium. Among them are foreign guests.

On May 28 and 29 in Lauta Park, the Ludus Usus Nigrus Gladiator School, which has trained 8 classes of the best trained and bravest gladiators in Romania, will demonstrate battles. The restorers have visited various festivals both in their homeland and in Italy. Now we will see them in Bulgaria. Reconstructions of 13th century battles will be shown by Hungarians from the Milites Christi Foundation. "We present the Order of the Templars with a special focus on 1217 - the crusade to Otremer of the Hungarian Rex Andreas," they say.

Reconstructors, who represent the Knights Templar of the Mysterious Order, are the guests from France. "Les Blancs Manteaux" recreates the history of this rich and powerful order, which has fascinated historians and the public for centuries with stories about the Knights Templar, their financial acumen, their military skills.

The whole program of the festival will offer visitors many interesting events. Tonight at the official opening of the Roman Stadium at 19:00 we will enjoy musical performances of the finalists of "Bulgaria is looking for talent" group "Freya", talents from the National High School of Performing and Screen Arts will present ancient poetry. Ballet Era dancers will also take part in the opening event. The audience at the Roman Stadium will also see an ancient ritual to invoke the favor of the gods. Battles between gladiators from schools will demonstrate Ludus Lupercalis, Ludus Traex, Ludus Usus Nigrus. We will also see Combat reenactment and Historical Medieval Battles.

The festival will be officially opened tonight by the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Archeology and Tourism of Plovdiv Municipality Plamen Panov.

On Saturday and Sunday the festival is moved to Lauta Park. There in the camp "Antiquity" there will be a presentation of ancient crafts, life and culture, archery, weapons handling; the fashion of the ancient world with the participation of the audience; antique winery - the wine of the old world; battle of Romans and barbarians; military oath, the defeated in the battle enter the Roman army; ancient slave market; ancient rituals.

In the camp "Early Middle Ages" there will be demonstrations of early medieval crafts - blacksmithing, weaving, leather, jewelry and clothing accessories; the early medieval food and its preparation in the open air, way of life and culture of the Bulgarians of this epoch; horse demonstrations and archery; presentation of the Early Middle Ages, clothing and weapons, military skills and army formation; demonstration of medieval fighting practices from the ground and from con - archery and martial arts with sword, whip and spear; medieval school for young warriors - training of young people and children in archery, spear, shield and sword.

Camp "Late Middle Ages" also awaits visitors with demonstrations of crafts from the Late Middle Ages, life and culture of Bulgarians, Romans, Latins and knights in our lands; presentation of late medieval clothing and weapons, military skills and order; medieval cuisine and medicine - demonstrations and presentations; historical presentation "Tsar Kaloyan and the Knights of the Duchy of Philippopolis". There will be a performance of medieval music by the group "Freya" on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The camps are open to visitors from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays and from 10 am to 2 pm on Sundays. Admission to all events at the Roman Stadium and Lauta Park is free.

On Sunday, May 29, at the end of the festival in the Episcopal Basilica at 2 pm there will be a reenactment of an early Christian liturgy in ancient Greek. It will be presented by the Moss Majorum Ulpie Serdice Association for Historical Reconstruction.
